When  time and weather conditions doesn`t allow to go outdoors to sketch, I`m browsing through  video footage hoping to find an interesting posture or scene...The videos offer moving images which are mostly  not sharp enough but this is the challenge for an artist, to try to understand form and anatomy and "transfer " it in to a clear and attractive picture..  I`m visiting our Munich zoo as regularly as I can, and though it`s always risky  to make studies from alive animals, the fascination of being there, gives me the confidence to try my best despite any possible failure. In most of the cases  when  I`m returning back home with succesful studies like these ,the satisfaction I feel can`t be compared with any other  reward. Walking through the Nymphenburg park I discovered this rufous Tawny owl close to the other one..
