New Tawny owl quick sketch-Nymphenburg Park

It was a beautiful winter day today, and couldn`t resist to go outside. Haven`t been in Nymphenburg park long time now, and I was wondering if the Tawny owls are still there. I felt as if I were in a fairy tale , such a beautiful snowcovered landscape around,. Couldn`t spot any of the owls except of "Kasimir" who gave me the chance to sketch him for a while..But it was too cold and I had to give up after two hours...

Cats and Chimpanzee studies-Munich zoo

From my today`s visit to Munich zoo.It was a "Cat" day today, since I spend almost all of my time sketching big and smaller cats.I didn`t have enough time available and I did only speedy studies. I forgot to mention that beside Cats , I managed to sketch also a Chimpanzee...

Latest fieldwork..only speedy sketches from zoo visits (except of the pigeons) accompanied by my daughter. Just an advice to everyone..don`t take your kids with you if you want to make proper studies!

Rhino & Mountain hare zoo studies

I`ve spend few hours in the zoo today in the morning. It was pretty cold outside and couldn`t stay long. Attached , two studies I managed to do, a portrait of the male Indian rhino and one of the mountain hares wearing his winter coat. Both sketched using various fineliners and pens on toned paper

Mountain hare study-Munich zoo

I`ve spend the whole morning in the zoo today., hoping to make some gesture studies of the mountain hares.They are getting their winter coat at the moment,looking exceptionaly attractive. Eventually , I decided to make a study of the most white one and didn`t regret it.I`ve used mixed media including Copic markers, Faber-Castell pitt pens, and white Gelly roll pen on Moleskine watercolour paper

Berlin trip -mainly zoo (Tierpark) studies

 I spend a week in Berlin visiting relatives. Unfortunately it was rainy and windy almost all the time, and the only I managed to do was to visit the Natural history museum and the Zoo in East Berlin, only for a morning , a foggy one. Attached , speedy sketches from the Zoo visit,a sketch of a stuffed Harpy eagle  with a macaw as a prey from the museum, as well a study of a co-traveler in the train on our way back to Munich

Tawny owl reddish phase-Nymphenburg park

Autumn is Tawny owl time! Trying to benefit of every sunny minute, I went back to Nymphenburg park and found this Reddish Tawny owl sitting somewhere else (I checked out his markings and colour , and I`m pretty sure that it is the same individual I have painted last week close to main water channel) but still with a very interesting background.
