Harpy eagle study in Nürnberg zoo

I spend yesterday many hours in the wonderful Nürnberg zoo with my family. I didn`t have too much time to draw something, but the majestic Harpy eagle posed to be portrayed, and I couldn`t resist to give it a try. After a couple of failed attempts I managed to complete this one.The negative surprise for me was that almost none of the visitors was able to identify the bird.. It has been almost always mistaken for an owl , and an other one called it a hybrid between an owl and an eagle!

Thylacine or Tasmanian tiger -The adventure of a study

..The Thylacine is a legendary species which lived in Australia and Tasmania and seems that is already extinct, since there is no credible evidence that the animal still exist for decades now. Attached, my efforts to depict the animal, starting with the initial pencil drawing , and showing the process step by step to the finished pen drawing. Eventually , I noticed several mistakes on his anatomy, decided to revise the image, started a couple of watercolours, and managed to complete at least one . Bird head sketches

Since the most if not all of us are forced to live in a self-isolation, and don`t have the possibility to go outdoors to sketch from life which I`m missing most, I decided to start drawing from my own videos. Every time I was travelling , I was taking a lot of footage mainly of birds. Attached in this case, songbird heads based on video I took while in Greece back in 2012. Fineliners
