I have been in the Park two weeks ago, but I didn`t have any possibility to work in colour then due to the lack of time. As soon as I saw that the weather is gonna be cold but fine today, I didn`t miss the chance to work with Gouache outdoors again and I`ve been rewarded with this study..

I spent few hours in the Gallery of old masters(Alte Pinakothek) yesterday, visiting the current exhibition showing works of Antonis van Dyck from its own collection as well international loans. I found this portrait of the engraver Karel van Mallery particularly expressive and I did this sketch.. I copied also Van Dyck`s self portrait painted when he was 16, loan from the Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der bildenden Künste, Vienna /Austria Sepia fineliners

Some quite various studies drawn today in Nymphenburg park in Munich. It was a very foggy and cold morning and I had to wait a couple of hours until the sun came out. Attached a Tawny owl study, my first ever Dog study from life, a lovely Samoyed, and a Great spotted woodpecker quick sketch done from a great distance within a minute
I went back to the Birdpark today and managed to do a coloured study of the Jackal buzzard. What beautiful birds they are! Attached aslo, a failed attempt. It was a sunny but unusually cold and windy day today, and wasn`t easy to work outdoors.
I spent few hours in a bird park close to Munich today, which is open only over the weekend from April to November . I haven`t been there for ages, this was actually my second visit in five years,, and I was happily surprised to see bird species from all over the world. I promised myself to go back with colours next time..
I spent few hours in the zoo today,looking after new models for a drawing course I`m giving in the zoo next Saturday. I used mainly black ballpoint pens and fineliners, but in case of the Indian elephant I tried to combine two colours, orange & black.. There is a very interesting exhibition about the Canadian impressionists in Munich and it`s really worth a visit! I spent there a couple of hours with a good friend today and I must say I have to go back! Attached, the only sketch I managed to finish today, a portrait of Jean Baptiste Cholette painted by Marc-Aurele de Foy Suzor-Cote, one of the leading Canadian impressionists.
